Frequently asked questions
Practical questions,
short answers.
About the product, its place in a systems-engineering workflow, and how the editions and licences work.
The product
Does D3rive replace SysML v2 or my existing engineering tools?
No. D3rive is complementary to established engineering solutions and standards such as SysML v2.
It supports architects and system designers early in systems engineering, connecting functional intent, physical realisation, requirements, checks and trade studies so that the evidence behind final deliverables remains traceable. It exchanges with established toolchains through the open standards SysML v2 and ReqIF; use it alongside the specialist tools and governed processes that produce and approve those deliverables.
How does the AI copilot work, and who pays for it?
You connect your own AI provider API key, and the provider bills you directly. The copilot acts with your permissions: Ask answers from the model, Plan proposes a reviewable change set, and Build applies it after capturing a baseline you can restore. The MCP agent API lets your own agents use the same tools.
Which formats can I exchange?
The open standards SysML v2 and ReqIF, plus an Excel workbook, HTML and Word reports, and the complete project bundle (.orcp). Trial and Pro exports carry a watermark notice; nothing is removed and every file still opens in the receiving tool. Model import is included in every edition. See the format table.
Where is my engineering data stored?
On your machine, in the database the installer sets up. This site holds your account and licence only, never your models. Online editions send a small licence heartbeat with allowlisted feature counters, product version and platform; it never contains model content, project names or file paths.
What does “Early Access” mean?
The product is before version 1.0 and evolving quickly, with regular releases. It is the real product, not a demo, and feedback sent from inside the application reaches the team building it.
Editions, licences and downloads
What is included in the free Trial?
Every feature Pro has, for a non-commercial evaluation: fourteen days with one named user and one AI agent, verification, the constraint solver, trade studies, model import, baselines and the copilot in Ask, Plan and Build modes. It is sized for evaluation: up to three projects large enough to open every shipped example, with smaller monthly allowances than Pro, and exports carry a watermark. No payment details are needed. When the Trial ends the application pauses until you upgrade; your models are never deleted.
Can I use D3rive for commercial work?
Commercial use is covered by Team and Enterprise, on terms agreed with you: write to enterprise@getd3rive.com. Trial is a non-commercial evaluation. Pro is an early-access backer subscription for independent engineers, researchers and early supporters: the full feature set for one named user and one AI agent, for non-commercial use.
Why do I need to sign in to download?
Your account is also your licence. The same email and password sign you in to the application, and the first sign-in activates your installation, so there is no licence key to copy. Creating the account takes a minute and starts your 14-day Trial.
Does it work offline?
Trial validates its licence online every few minutes. Pro keeps working for up to 5 hours between checks and Team for up to 24 hours, and each new sign-in needs a connection. Enterprise can use an offline, on-premise licence file with no product telemetry.
Can we evaluate Team or Enterprise first?
Yes. Email enterprise@getd3rive.com with your team size, environment and what you want to evaluate, and we will agree a path with you.
